We must occupy for a better society

We have been trained to isolate one another because of our unique qualities (the way we think, do things, our race, gender, religion etc.). Too often than not, our unique qualities are use against who we are as human beings without knowing it. Sometimes we forget that some of us have no control how we came to this earth. Society seemed to find a way to divide us using every avenue, either to sale, control, discriminate or else and it seems to work. This became very apparent to me when I hear over and over, how the media question what the occupiers are after, who are they (educated, non-educated, poor, Asian, middle class, black, white etc.) and so on. The question is, why should this matter?

With the occupiers taking over cities around the world, the media still scramble to put them in a particular box, and I cannot tell you how happy I am. This isn’t just about government, corporations or the top 1%.   I think we all want to see balance, e.g. diversity, in schools, financial sectors, the government and corporations, fair media coverage because we are tired of seeing the minority making decisions for the Majority

This is the time for women to occupy and demand their voices are heard. We all pay taxes, no, the middle class pay more than the wealthy. We all should be heard, we all should be represented at every level. Collectively, we can seize this moment and have lasting change. This isn’t about the wealthy folks paying more taxes, this is about calling wealthy and poor alike to say, we are all human and we all can work for a better society for all. Today, the minimum wage my sisters and brothers earn cannot pay for rent and food.  This isn’t just about inflation. We failed to see beyond a world of our own too many times and for too long which affects everyone in every continent.

Women should occupy everywhere because we are mothers fighting to feed and educating children without fathers. We are sisters getting exploited by the media and society daily.  We are students who are unable to find jobs because of our gender.  We are girls and women who are being told; we cannot be anything we want because a man can only take care of us (by means of marriage and having children, even if it means being abused daily).  We should occupy all over the world because for the world to change, it will take the majority and WE ARE the majority. We have the interest of everyone at heart.
